Hi,
Does anyone know if there are any quiet beach camping spots around the Crowdy Bay area or within 50 km of Port Maquarie, also if permits are required to access the beaches?
I understand some areas may be closed due to the recent fires, has anyone any information on whats open & closed.
Thanks

If you want to go north of Port Macquarie, your choices are Point Plommer (permit reqired to drive on beach and camping fees apply), Limeburners
Nature Reserve at Big
Hill (fees apply) Racecourse about 10K south of Crescent Head (fees apply) (All Council or NPWS camping grounds) or a private caravan park at Racecourse. South of Port Macquarie you have 3
camp sites at
Diamond Head (about 10 min south of
Laurieton.
There is also a few
places in
Hat Head National Park which is between
South West Rocks and Crescent Head.
All parks are open.
Have fun.

Cruiser,
Thanks, We just got back and due to the fires we ended up staying at
Diamond head for a week. We ventured up as far as
Hat Head but a fire was still burning at
Smoky Cape camp and the NPWS told us to keep away from Limeburners as a new fire had broken out. Anway had a great time & will
check out your suggestions next time.
Cheers
Mark
