Hi gang,
I am in the process of designing a major wiring job, for the Troopie. I have been to many auto parts suppliers in
Melbourne, but have found their range too small, sometimes the quality doubtful and WAY WAY too expensive.
I need lots of wire, some good quality crimp connectors and a good crimping tool.
Can anyone suggest a good outlet in
Melbourne, possibly a wholesaler who will also sell to Joe average ??
Cheers
Pete

Greetings
I am addicted to my local BIAS Boating store for much of my 12 volt elctrical stuff. Not cheap but usually good quality.

Woops !!!!!
Moving north thought. I have one nearby (
Brisbane) . They do mail order though :-) !!!!!
Do try a good boating outlet though. I have found the boating gear good quality and useable in 4x4 environment.

Peter,
Try Whitworths, their prices are good, though not sure of the range. Otherwise, Jaycar and DSE, they sell cheaper for bulk lots. eg 100 metre rolls. Also sell good quality crimpers, as
well as el cheapo's.
Recently bought some 4ga and 8 ga from jaycar, the sort used for doof, doof amps/speakers, to rewire part of fridge set-up, in wagon.
Where possible, I've always soldered crimps as
well, just improve the joint.
Hooroo...

yeah, jaycar / jb hifi for large 8 or 4 guage cable by the metre, But just go to your local Bursons and grab the narva catalouge etc. and pick what you want in the way of connectors swirches etc, they have good ratchet crimping
tools as
well, and get your cable by the bulk roll (30m 50m 100m etc.) If you are getting a fair bit from them they will look after you
well, and even if they have to order it all in its only a day or2 .
Ive got the latest narva and hella cattalouges here if you want to grab them and find all your bits. Just message me and we can sort it out.
Cheers Brad

Thanks Brad. I might get some catalogues for myself. Half the fun is looking through all the cool gear.

Hi Peter,
You can try
1/ RADIO PARTS as earlier mentioned in
carnegie of north
melbourne.
You can also get better pricing from these guys buying in bulk...
cheaper if you join their VIP group
www.radioparts.com.au/
2/ ACCESS COMMUNICATIONS in Fitzroy
Annette and Leo are very helpful...you need to buy rolls of stuff though
www.accesscomms.com.au
3/ CABLES PLUS in North
Melbourne
Also need to buy rolls of cable from these guys
www.cablesplus.com.au/
As mentioned above 2nd and 3rd suppliers are bulk suppliers but you will find there prices are cheaper by far.
Hope this helps.
Cheers
Kon
