Just got back from the Illawarra 4WD show.
Said hi to the Signman and had a look at the Cooper stand.
There new Discoverer STT looks the goods if nothing else.
Brett sais that one of the problems that Cooper had in the past when tyres were being compared is that they did not look sexy enough. lol .
This is the tyre that they did the TV commercial at
Braidwood the other week, with Mike Leyland as the 4WD expert and will be released to the public in the first week of March.
The tyre that is out now is the ST. The STT has a very aggressive tread design on the side wall.
The sizes that will become available
LT265/75R16
LT285/75R16
LT265/70R17
LT285/70R17
LT275/65R18
35X12.50R18LT
30X9.50R15LT
31X10.50R15LT
LT235/85R16
LT245/75R16
LT245/70R17
37X12.50R17LT

My ST's (245/75-16's) are up in another 20,000 or so (which will take me about 3 months to get through. I'm interested in staying with Cooper as the ST's have served me very
well. Are there any pictures of the new STT that you saw at the show?
Cheers
Chris

Chris,
I do have pictures of the STT's and they also had some of the tyres on display .
www.coopertire.com
This is the Americian site.
Some sizes will be hard to get at first but I would say in 3 months supply of all sizes should be in stock.

Thanks Wayne :)
Jeez! How "MTR" do they look? They seem to have wandered away from the BFG MT's tread pattern and gone with the Goodyear style.
I like them! Might need to do a few more rough trails and kill off the ST's.....

Going to the "official" launch for dinner and drinks on Coper on the 23rd Feb, will be interesting to see if the new "armor tek" sidewalls are as tough as the MTR.
pic of the tyre here, has been available in the US for a little while.

Well they DO look the goods.
Hard work getting a serious tyre in LT265/70R17 for the current Prado. I have been waiting for the Goodyear MTR's to become available in this size but this might be a good alternative.
I am running the Cooper A/T in this size at the moment and am very happy with them. 25,000km now and no flats, just one sidewall cut that was able to be repaired easily. The tread looks to me to be about 30% worn so should get 60,000 out of them no worries.
The STT would be a great second set on steel rims for harder trips and fun weekends. The A/T's are fine around town and for moderate trips.
Cheers
Muddy

Yea Ive seen em round here in melb on some
test trucks... they are as soft as bubble gum!
If people are comparing ST's to STT's and mentioning the words LONG LASTING will be bleep tered.
