Many thanks to Member Crazie(Vic) who sent me some of his unwanted diesel sluge remover.

What a mess!!! LOL

Doesn't matter what I do I always make a mess when changing oil. I dropped the oil out of the 2H and filled up with some spare oil I had. Put the measured amount 12.5mil of CEM product in and ran the engine on fast idle for 30 minutes as recommended. Positioned the bucket to catch the sludge at the wrong angle and made a bloody mess. The sludged oil was like ooze and went everywhere. I let it drain over an hour. Threw away shirt as it was sludge stained beyond recognition. Then refilled with 9.5lts oil and I must say the old dear is running quite well now. The engine is more responsive and the oil pressure guage is showing higher up the guage.

I also put some of the fuel additive in the tank but have not seen any improvement in start-up smoke disappearing. Mayt be it needs a little more additive.

Now I might do the GQ donk at the next oil change. More mess!!!!

Willem,
I used that product in my 2H motor for one flush about 2 years ago. Seemed to work ok, as just recently a diesel fitter friend of mine adjusted the tappets and when we took the cover off there was no sludge or anything else inside but the oil. I don't know if CEM cleaned it or not, but it certainly did the motor no harm. Motor done 334,000 and oil and filters changed every 5,000.
Cheers,
Bros.
Work is the curse of the down and out bludger.

I used some of a similar type of stuff that I picked up from BigW I got over 1L more oil and globs of gunk out of the engine than I put in at the last oil change (the oil that is, as I generaly don't add globs of gunk), so they do work.

Consensus seems to be that this stuff works IF U NEED IT!
My Triton has done 240,000kms (2.5td) & whilst the oil gets VERY black the
valve gear is quite cleans as is the rocker cover & the motor always takes the specified amount of oil.
Regular oil changes with the right diesel oil should keep the motor clean shouldnt it? Maybe its running cold or too many very short trips that clogs em up?

I find the fuel additive takes several tanks to make any effect, it's also better if you put a double dose in then take it for a nice long cruise to the country and back.

Interesting, I would try it on my camper but it is for sale this w/end. Wonder if it works on 1hz motors. I am always suspicios of this kind of product coz I always wonder if they do more harm than good in the long run (eg dislodge particles that were perviosly held in place) btw my 2h takes the full 10l from the container which is quite handy coz you can put the old oil back in. Trick is to place the bucket flat but far enough back to catch the oil as it initially gushes out and move it closer as pressure decreases to a dribble (this info comes from a guy whose back yard looks like an environmentale disaster and have a bin filled with stained shirts)
