Any recommendations for companies that specialise in long term rental or buy back schemes? I'm coming to Oz next year from England and want a 4x4 for 6 months to do some proper travelling in.
Also, what's the best all round 4x4 (price, running costs, comfort etc)? The Landcruiser HJ60 seems to be a popular choice.
Any help/recommendations/warnings would be greatly appreciated

Dont want to start a flame war, but for what its worth I reckon that an old model GQ Patrol (say 88-92) represents pretty darn good value for money in the "serious" 4WD catagory. A word of caution however, the 4.2L petrol is one thirsty hombre!

Mark, I've just disposed of a HJ60 LC. Had 400,000km on the clock and still going strong. I used to get 14 to 16 l /100km when loaded for travel and in mid 20's crossing the
Simpson Desert. Watch out for rust in the roof just above the gutter. Mal Try.
