I am considering purchasing a Galaxy Caravan with a shower and toilet. Just wondering if anyone has any comments good or bad on Galaxy caravans.

Thanks

Jason

Seen quite a few the last few years and all seemed to do the job.
Just make sure that it is not too large for the tow vehicle and that the ball weight is not too heavy. Also remember that the tare weight is very rarely accurate as these are usually calculated on a standard van without all the opsions we order after choosing the basic unit. Best wishes on your travels.

Thanks for the reply. It is much appreciated. I am looking at towing a caravan which will probably weigh about 2500kg when fully loaded with travelling gear with a NP turbo diesel pajero. This will be up to its maximum weight and if you have any experience I would appreciate feedback.

Thanks

Jason 1,
I am in no doubt that the Paj can easily tow this weight as the motor is very capable, however when the vehicle is towing the max then there is not much leeway in case of the unexpected.
Some of our roads are shocking and these are sealed.
On gravel roads the constant corrugations multiply any trouble you may get at least twofold.
However having said that just get out there and go for it.
My rig has done 60,000 over some of the worst and best roads in OZ and we are still looking for more.
Remember speed & tyres down on the rough stuff.
See Moonies notes in the 4X4 mag P120 Nov 2004 Issue.
Yes it's out now. (I subscribe)

I recently bought one after doing a lot of reasearch....mine has a double island bed fore, kitchen/dinette amidships and seperate shower, toilet, washing machine aft and is 21', tare weight, 1930kg.
I'm very impressed with mine, had a few " teething problems" but very quickly resolved to my complete satisfaction. They are not mass produced, but rather to order and unless you take one that a dealer has in stock be prepared for a long wait. The workmanship on mine is quite good, the finish is good and it was clean when I got it delivered with no swarf or pop rivet residue anywhere. It is considered a luxury van and they are appointed accordingly. I notice to that mine has bronze bushes on the suspension with grease nipples. I like grease nipples and the large boot has plenty of room for a small grease gun and it takes about 5 mins to give the nipples a pump every 5000 km...the other thing that did sway me was that the internal surfaces are a laminate finish and therefore offer more durability than the normal "paper on 3 ply" material...I just wish I had specified vynl flooring throughout as carpet to the bedroom means I have to carry a vacuum cleaner....
I tow it with a 3.0T/D Jackeroo with out any probs.
let me know if i can offer any more details

Dear Rick

Thanks for your detailed reply. I appreciate it very much. I am very impressed with the Galaxy and with my wife and 2 children we appreciate clean beds and toilets/showers when travelling sound good. If you could let me know of the make of your washing machine and if it is any good in terms of cleaning clothes it would be much appreciated. I have found no-one who has actually used on so any comments would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Jason

Thanks very much Rick about the washing machine info. Did you install this yourself or do you leave this portable as I talked to Galaxy and they said they don't fit these. I thought I may be able to store a small one in the car and use it in the shower when we are stopped ?? I would appreciate your comment on how you set up yours.

Thanks
