does any one know how to read the symbols stamped onto rims. I want to buy some spare rims for lc100.
mine are stamped
J16X8JJDOT TOPY 1123 98 42
my rodeo is stamped
J16X8JJDOT TOPY 319 99 88
i know 16x8 is rim width and diameter, jj is surface shape . dot is dept of transport, but the rest???
ofset?
hub diameter?
stud hole placement??
Any info would be apperciated

Fred, I think you will find jj means it is suitable for off road use. ie heavy duty construction.

Well I don't know for sure but I remember reading on some informed site that the jj refered to the special lip profile on the wheel. One j meant this profile on one side only, jj is both sides.

That's correct MD. There are different rim "lip" profiles. JJ is the most commen these days. It is important to match the tyres' bead profile (jj) with the rim profile (jj) to ensure correct bead setting.

TOPY - is the wheel manufacturer, Topy Industries, Ltd, Japan.
1123 98 42 - as far as I can gather represent the manufactured date and wheel offset. However, I stand corrected.
JJ - represents the rim profile (or safety wheel). In the case of a flat tyre, it's to assist in the tyre from rolling into the centre of the rim. That's why is necessary to have a good bead breaker. Older wheels only had one "j" on the inner bead area. Split rims don't have any rim profiles to assist the tyre staying on the outer area if deflated.
