Anyone else noticed that more and more areas are becoming inaccessible? I noticed this a few years back with roads and camping areas closed or blocked and signs saying all sorts of reasons which didn’t make sense. And don’t get me started on “Ghost camps”. I have mentioned in the
forum before that you can’t book a site as a
campground is fully booked, only to drive through it and it is 80-90% empty!
Well, it seems the reason may be the government’s 30x30 2030 plan to make 30% of Australia land a protected area and the same with the sea. For those of us that travel this great land, I feel the door is slowly closing. One of the 30x30 sites I looked at, actually says “Supporting First Nations to voluntarily declare additional Indigenous Protected Areas could play a key role.” and also says that protected areas “is likely to be added in coming months as more Indigenous Protected Areas are declared.
Here a video that talks a little about it.
