Hi Everyone, a happy new year to you all and safe travels in 2025.

I'm looking at a new navigation device (still!) and one of my options runs on Android 14.

Does anyone have any experience with this version of the OS?

Cheers.

G'day Rodger,
I assume you are asking regarding running Exploroz Traveller App?
I have a Google Pixel 6 with android V14 OS.
The traveller app runs flawlessly on my system.
I think the processor is important & believe the Samsung A series are not up to it but the Samsung S series are the preferred option.
There is information on this site regarding prefered phone/tablet specs under "system requirements"

Cheers

Thank you for your response Stu.

The phone has impressive RAM and storage but do you find that the phone is big enough physically?

Is it windscreen mounted?

I've looked at the S9s but I think the screens are 10/11". I don't think I'd see much out of my windscreen with that on the dash!

I'll think about the phones but my iPhone wouldn't be an option.

Cheers,

Roger

The screen size works just fine.
I have the phone mounted low down because when navigating & charging at the same time the phone will shut down with an overheat alarm if mounted high up with sunshine on it.
Even using google maps this happens.
My previous Samsung S8 had the same issue with overheating when navigating mounted higher in the car. Also having it low mounted you can turn the screen brightness down to help prevent the overheat alarm on hot days.

Cheers

I,m using several Samsung Tablets at the moment . The Tab A will handle OziExplore, Hema, ExploreOz, Memory Map and other mapping programmes. I have 3 units as well as the Desktop/laptop apps. As Bushranger1 says...they can get hot sitting in the sun. I had one that expanded badly in the sun. I now haveinsulationg material behind all my screens.. I,ve had to replace batteries in another unit. Naturally the newer the tablet the quicker/better the performance.Mine are mounted high so I can easily read them without having to take my eyes off the road as much as when looking down in the lower dash centre/area.
