As a newbie to ExplorOz I'm still learning how best to use it, so far so good. We are doing a 15000km + trip next year and wonder whether you experienced users save it as one complete file/trip or you break it down into days/segments.

Folders are the bomb for trip planning.. take the time to fully appreciate how they work:

Not your complete solution, but an important component.
My trip planning is a mix of Google Keep Notes, ExplorOz Folders, and ExplorOz
Treks

Agree what has been mentioned with using the folders, they are really helpful.
If you have taken out full Exp[lore Oz
membership, you can create the trip on your
home computer and this will automatically sync with the Traveller App that is on all your mobile devices.
One of the best ways to using folders with your 15000km trip, is to have a the main folder named for the trip, then within this main folder will be all your sub folders named those smaller trips you have created.

Appreciate that, I've been working my way through the various video tutorials and almost feel like I am forgetting more than I learn. Trial and error will do it, really like the software.

Is it really a relaxing holiday if you need what seems to be a strict regiment to keep everything on track day by day ? I hope this is not just a 2 or 3 week rushed trip your planning You need to be flexible in your planning or it will just create tension and not be enjoyed as it should be if travelling with other people in the vehicle or with other vehicles.
You never mentioned the time your planning to drive over 15,000km or potential destinations or things to see on the way as that can help others give you advice.
20yrs ago we had some friends of my parents 2 couples in 2 vehicles do a lap of Oz in 6 weeks I said it's not worth it and they were retired as
well but they still done it. They saw lots of tarmac than sites also had an unexpected
breakdown that ate into their plan hence they never done another big road trip. The highlight of the trip seemed to be that they saw
Kylie Minogue at a restaurant so much for looking at the natural sites on offer.

I wasn't being specific about days just asking a question. Relax, we are away for 60+ days and I'm only guessing the 15,000kms until ExplorOz gives me the real answer. We are allowing 20 days to get from
Sydney to
Jabiru for example.

As others have suggested, using Folders for regions/states is ideal and do try to avoid overplanning (making
treks) - best to break into small chunks and only use as a guide. Highly unlikely a fully planned turn by turn 15,000 km trek would be exact hence its useless to you once you deviate offline.
We have been travelling over a year fulltime using Traveller exclusively and what I do most is turn on the Folder overlay I want when in the area and just rely on that as a guide together with the maps. Rarely create a Trek but do often tap out a days worth of
Places to visit to steer some routing but we rarely know where we’re going more than 2 hours ahead.
