Octa-Core MediaTek Helio G88 Processor. 8GB RAM 128GB Internal Storage..

Officeworks Link

This tablet seems good value, according to Lenovo specs it has GPS.

Anyone using one (or one with similar specs) with ExplorOz Traveller?

I have been using a couple of Lenovo tablets (purchased from Aldi, one for the navigator, and one for me) for navigation with OziExplorer android for a couple of years now. Lower specs than the ones you show, but totally adequate. The GPS reception is very good (top RH corner of the screen).
Love 'em.
Aldi currently have them at 4gb, 64gb (+SD to 1Tb) for $199. That would be plenty, I reckon.
I keep all the maps and tracks on an SD card.

Correction.... One of the ones I have was purchased on-line (Ebay, not from Aldi) and is M10, 32Gb, 2Gb ram. 10.1" screen 1280 x 800 and is totally adequate.
Cheers,
Peter

Thanks Peter.. I've had other information that the claimed GPS receiver in these tablets may not actually exist... I think I might just stick with another Samsung Tablet.

I'm writing this on a Lenovo 11 inch tablet. The tablet itself is quite fine but the GPS is woefull. When I bought it I returned it saying the GPS didn't work. They gave me a replacement and it was the same. I'm pretty easy going so have just lived with it by using a Garmin external unit as the GPS receiver. It isn't the same model you have linked and you probably can't tar all Lenovo's with the same brush.

We continually remind people that any device that is marketed as a budget, everyday use device is not udeal for the complexities off offline, GPS navigation with high resolution offline vector maps so dont use this for your reliable mapping app! Heres a tech review I found… Lenobo Tab M11

Just going Samsung doesnt immediately mean better either - the A-series tablets are a budget range. The S-series is the one that has best performance. With Apple, all their iPad models are high performance - no budget offering and what you usually find is if you spend the same on your Android tablet as an iPad youll get much the same quality device. In tech, you do get what you pay for.

Hope this helps,regards Michelle

Hope that helps.

Thanks, useful!

I was also toying with the idea of an iOS device.

We have slowly moved to Apple as our preferred platform for everything including app development compilation on Macbook whilst travelling more robust and better battery than PC. Traveller app on IPads, iPhones, MacBook and the Android headunit in car and web app on Macbook too.

May be wrong here, but my understanding is only cellular devices have a built in dedicated GPS, no need for a sim.
We had a budget Samsung A series and found it to be crap.
After a bit of research we bought an Alldocube mini, we were after an 8".
So much better than the Samsung in all ways.
Pretty sure they do larger tablets as well.

A good price. How is the screen brightness of the Alldocube mini compared to the Samsung for mapping in daylight?

It only get used for mapping on the dash of our truck. Works perfect there in daylight, but like any tab would probably struggle in sunlight. Clearer and faster than the Tab A

That's all I want to use it for and I only want an 8 inch tablet for the dashboard. I currently use a Samsung Tab S2 and it now goes to "blue screen" running the old Traveller app. How does the Alldocube handle the latest version of Traveller (assuming that you are using it)?
