Hi Team, off to
Sydney in a few days - driving without the van from Sunshine Coast. I'm intending to drive most of the day & perhaps get to Hexham. I'm going to sleep in the car....just need to find a place to freshen up & grab food. Does anyone know of any pub camps close along the way somewhere AFTER
Taree that I might be able to park at & grab a pub meal & have a shower?

Hi Stefan
No one jumping in to answer so here is my thoughts.
I would be taking a more inland route utilising the middle section of the
New England Highway. Slightly longer but may even end up quicker. This is doable in a single run but you would need to make your own responsible decision on that bit. Plenty of free camps along there if you need to break your trip and rest. Food is not a problem either. You would probably find the trip so relaxing and enjoyable that you wouldn't even be looking for a shower anyway.
Just my thoughts and it would be a 'no brainer' for me.
I wish you a safe and enjoyable trip what ever you decide.

Most of the service stations that have truck facilities and cafés have showers in their facilities. To be sure, ask before you fuel up.

There is a big BP roadhouse past the Hexham
bridge but before the start of the freeway.
It is on your right just before the freeway, it has a large truck area so it is likely to have showers and you can get meals there as
well.
I don't know if
Parking in the car park for sleeping is allowed.
I found the website

To find the truck stops, use
Petrol Spy. Look for service stations in the very small towns. If you click on the navigate button on a service station entry, that will take you to a Google map page. From there, you can look at the joint in satellite view or street view and
check it out. If you are looking at not quite making Hexham then there are a couple of likely spots at Nabiac and Coolongolook.
