Satellite view in Traveller app?

I can't find much info about the sat view in Traveller app. What topo information is overlaid over the imagery in this mode? Can someone post a good screenshot?

Probably because no-one understands what you want. I don't. Topo overlay on satellite view? Not something I have ever seen on any electronic mapping application.

Look at the online version if you haven't bought the app & you can see what is on offer.

Pretty much any software nowadays supports this since everyone moved to vector-based topo data.

Simultaneous display of the topo map and satellite image is on my wish list for features. It would be useful in planning especially where marked tracks have fallen into disuse. You can sort of achieve this by toggling between map and sat views. For example in some newly declared NPs the old station tracks have been closed and the new NP tracks are unmarked. I'm not sure what programming/device resource issues this would pose. A common thing to do in a GIS environment. Perhaps a feature for the Web version of EOT. Next on my wish list is offline sat imagery, but that would pose a big device storage demand.

Go to the Places system and on the index page open the map panel at the top RHS of the map press the button that shows EOTopo and change this to Satellite and you will be able to see the Sat view as offered online in the app.

Oh cool thanks, that's just what I wanted to know. But yeah, as Warren said, overlaying full EOTopo over satellite imagery would be great (and what stops me from buying Traveller atm). I heavily rely on sat for planning and on trips - nowadays with good quality imagery freely available there's no reason not to check what the terrain actually looks like. In other software I currently use, I overlay offline road/topo map over online sat with 50% transparency - this gives good visibility of both and automatically falls back to just topo if sat tiles can't be downloaded. From what I understand how you render the map (I am a developer, too), this shouldn't be hard to do.
