Android head unit - ExploreOz Traveller - Google Account security

I currently have an Android head unit installed in our Landcruiser 79 running ExploreOz Traveller (among other apps - WikiCamps etc). I recently created a second Google account for the head unit to reduce the risk of someone accessing my primary Google account in the event the vehicle is stolen. By making this new account active and removing my primary account on the Android head unit I no longer have access to run ET. Had a quick search of the Forum but I expect that the link between my primary Google account where I purchased the application and ET needs to be active on the head unit for it to run. I could use a security passcode on startup of the head unit but this is not my first preference.

Any comments welcome.

Dale

You can be logged out of the google account on the head unit and still retain functionality.
Will need to log back in to to software updates, but not Data Manager updates

I can only see an option to remove the account on the head unit so will try to log the head unit Google account out from my PC and see how I get on.

Why not simply use a code/password for when you use the unit...Set up the unit for shutdown after 15 mins of no use. Anyone stealing the unit will not be able to acess it. I,ve had 2 samsung tablets in 2 cars setup for over 6 years now and no issues. When I leave the car for a period of time I simply turn the unit off and restart, via my password ,when I,m ready to travel.

Entering a pin code everytime you start your car will get tedious after a while. Its also the radio and the bluetooth phone and the reverse camera, and in my case the tyre pressure sensors

The easiest is to change the Google account password if the car gets stolen!

Great answer. Can't get any simpler than that :)
