Hi I recently bought a used 2022 Ocean Breeze216. It has a thetford 3 way fridge. When purchased I changed my utes existing 7pin trailer plug to a 12pin and haven’t got the auxiliary wires (big pins) installed.
The caravan has an Anderson, is this providing power to the fridge and the pink wire is like an ignition that lets the fridge know it’s hooked up to the vehicle.
Given I have an existing Anderson plug on my ute, am I right in saying that I just need to get the pink wire installed in the auxiliary point in the socket and it should be right to go?

Any help would be appreciated

Hi Sparks26,
Firstly, let me state that I am not an Auto. Elec. or a 12 volt specialist, just someone who has been camping for more than 55 years.
Short answer is not necessarily, it depends on what the Anderson Plug is connected to on the caravan. It could be connected to a DC/DC Charger, or directly to your caravan house batteries. You will need to have an Auto. Elec.
check how the caravan is wired.
A lot of caravans with absorption fridges are wired so that the 12 volt supply coming from the car is via an Anderson connection using heavy cables to limit voltage drop, with a signal wire to the towing vehicle ignition. However, this may not necessarily be the case. You will need to have this checked.
Macca.

Perhaps contact Oceanbreeze for the trailer plug wiring pinout.

Warren. Why ocean breeze? When the pink wire in a 12 pin is obviously for fridge switching detection. It can be energised with a voltage to see if it operates the fridge. ie,
test and confirm.

RMD, as Macca suggested it might be good to
check what the Anderson plug is wired to. Jayco for example give a detailed trailer plug wiring pin out for their caravans, including the larger power pins. While the OP seemed to indicate that only 7 wires were connected, the info might be useful and save the cost of an auto electrician.
