The mapping in my 2014 VX 200 Series Landcruiser is next to useless. Very few replacement multimedia units are made for this model and I have yet to read particularly good reviews of any of them.
I am considering a Apple Car Play mirroring screen and even these seem to have shortfalls, such as failling in high temperatues, slow in mirroring the mobile phone or dropping out, etc.
Are there any recommendations of units which work
well?

Hi Glenn,
I agree that the standard mapping is almost useless.
In my 2018 LC200VX, I have installed
this unit. It is expensive at over two grand, but works really
well and retains all factory operations.
Good luck!
Barry

Thanks Barry but unfortunately your solution is only applicable to the face-lifted model, not
mine.

Michelle and David , the owners of this website , have a Cruiser and extensively use all electronic devices. Maybe get in touch with them for what might work.
Cheers

If you
check on the Traveller App web page there is a section about an AI Android box adaptor "CarLinkKit" that mirrors Android / Car Play.
Check with the Help Desk and give them details of your system..ie model number etc and maybe this might be a solution you are after.

Hi Peter,
Thanks but I don't think it is compatible with my vehicle. It looks as though the car need Apple Car Play as the starting point.

There are a few aftermarket replacement headunits that will fit that run a full Android OS - we have been doing this since 2019 and first had a T’Eyes, now have an EC Offroad but there is also Vhedia and Polaris to look at. Dont get a CarPlay unit unless it soecifically says it also runs a full Android Operating system. See our webpage for details
ExplorOz Traveller as all the info is there.

Peter,
From the video it appears you need Car Play facility in the head-unit. My Toyota doesn't have that.

Do you think this unit may fit, SC? Haven’t seen this brand before. I fitted a Vhedia unit to my 79 series ute.

Replace your headunit with a full Android headunit.
