Merty to Cameron's is very ordinary. Lot of corrugations and most of the dunes have substantial erosion ruts down both sides. The other option is to go east and down to Tibooburra via Noccundra. There has been a lot of work on the roads that way

I have just travelled Noccundra to Tibooburra 2 days ago.
A fairly good drive, I was towing a caravan.
Some work being carried out
with detours, the detours were better than the road.
Over all a good trip with some parts that are rough.
And the bonus is good burgers at Noccundra.

Hi Theo,

As well as the Merty Merty road, there is another road from Cameron Corner Store that runs through pastoral property and then joins the Strezlecki Track south of Innamincka. I don’t have the map with me at present, but if you ask the guys at Cameron Corner Store, they can give you some advice and may even have a copy of the map. I travelled this way last September, it was at that time a pretty good gravel road with very few corrugations.

That is the Bore Track that goes north on the west side of the border from Bollards Lagoon.
It used to be open for travelers but you now need permission to use it. Not driven it.
In 2016, travelling in company with a 23ft caravan, we tried the northern section of that track. The first part was fine, but a creek looked too difficult for the caravan and we turned around.

Cheers,
Peter

Hi Pete and Margaret and Theo,

The track I was referring to is the one in this map that goes via Epislom and Omicron, not The Bore Track.

.Hi Macca, I know the track you refer to and travelled it a few times when I worked in that area some 40 years ago. It was a good drive then too. There are a lot of Santos tracks in that area but not available to the general public.
As for the Bore track, that was a great drive but Bollard's Lagoon Station closed their lower section of it years ago. The northern National Park section is still open but is not a through road.
Cheers
Allan

Hey All. Macca, just did the road you went. Epsilon, Omicron. No probs at all. Now left Cameron's and stayed a night on the Qld side of the fence at the Fortville Gate. Met up with the Omicron owners. Very fine people.
Thanks for all the replies.

Hey Ivan, Mackay.
Thanks for the info. Just sitting here at Innaminka pondering which way to go. Should of mentioned we are towing vans so that will add to the equation. Don't really want to go via Merty Merty and then head east. Am thinking of heading to Omicron and then on the Corner Store Road that way. Any thoughts

In 2016 we came from Tibooburra to Cameron Corner in company with a 23ft caravan. It was wet but we had no problems.

From Cameron Corner we went NE via Omicron and Epsilon to Innamincka (still with the caravan) because the road via Merty Merty was closed due to rain. That was good.

Thanks for all your replies. Got of my a**e and rang the corner store like you suggested Macca. From Merty Merty to corner store is closed to all but 4x4 without towing according to the store. He suggested to travel down to Moonba and take the Toona Gate Road to Omicron and then into the corner store. Got plenty time and travelling with others.

Sorry. I meant down the Moonba road and turn off to Epsilon. Not to Moonba.
