Hmmm a bit of a cynical response RMD.
As yet we haven't travelled with the passenger screen mounted like this, but we have decided that it will be an improvement to have it there at the fingertips when 'double checking is required, rather than pulling an ipad out from whatever it's buried under, switching it on & waiting for it to boot up.

I don't expect it will remain 'lit up' all the time.

I consider that we are all different & free to travel (& navigate) as we choose. Don't you think so?

As for having a screen showing a map whilst driving - I've loved having the HX1 available to be glanced whenever I choose & to see details of what we are seeing as we drive eg. names of ranges etc.

Like Cuppa, I use a Hema whilst on trips and have it powered up all the time. It helps with finding places to stop for lunch, toilet stops, or for when we are looking for our off grid night stop. I have been “playing with” Exploroz Traveller recently, getting to know the various functions with a view to using it on our next trip.

I just have got to chime in and agree here too.
I have an iPad running Exploroz Traveller centre stage with my phone running Apple Maps (or google maps) to give me better help through towns etc. Meanwhile my wife's phone will probably be on wicki camps or similar or maybe playing a podcast to listen to. Have a backup paper map as well as we find this much easier for overall trip planning to get the big picture, and is there if all else fails.
I tend to avoid the major highways as much as possible. Like, if I know how to get to my destination without a map then I am probably on a road that is too major or too well travelled by us already and one has to ask, what am I doing here.
I do like your setup Cuppa. Vehicle and all actually.

I often put up my trip when travelling around here. It gives me an idea of the ETA to where I am going. That sort of info gives me some guidance whether I can divert or have time to refuel and still get to my destination at the required time.
