I tried to get some airtime for my Isatphone 2 and their website is saying that the satellite is broken, the network is not working due to an outage and will not sell any airtime or sim cards at the moment?
Just wondering if any Isatphone users out there are experiencing problems at the moment?
I'm not sure when the problem will be sorted out, the website doesn't give any idea of that.

I think that's the same satellite that is affecting all the agricultural equipment navigation around the country, there might be more info if you look for info on that.
Weird that the ag equipment doesn't use the same GPS info that everything else uses.

The same "GPS" is used in Ag the same as everywhere. The issue was with the corrections that are used to make the position down to 2 cm accurate. These corrections are broadcast off the geostationary Inmarsat satellite. In a lot of cases there isn't redundancy or overlap. Often due to the limited availability of free transponders. In this case there was no overlap. Also having transponders just sitting there redundant is very expensive, and people don't want to pay.

Extracted from Pivotel's website.
"Update: 15:23 28-Apr-2023 AEST (GMT +10)
Inmarsat has advised that GSPS (Isatphone)
services have been partially recovered in the affected coverage area.
Services have been recovered in the coverage area of the Western Pacific Ocean and Pacific Islands, New Zealand and Eastern Australia from the East Coast through to approximately a line between Mt Isa and
Adelaide. GSPS
services in Western Australia, the Northern Territory, some parts of western Queensland and most of South Australia and the surrounding ocean areas are still not operating. Service registration and connectivity may be interrupted from time to time as Inmarsat continues to optimise service capacity across the region.
Inmarsat is actively working to restore
services in the affected regions. We will provide an updated timeline as soon as possible."
I also went to my usual go to place to purchase a pre-paid and they too are not selling - showing their pre-paid options as "sold out".
I hope they get it up and running before I head off to WA next month!!
