Hi Stephen,
The ability to "create" turn by turn route guidance is only available when online. This is because the route calculator is an online service and is external to the app but once the route is calculated you can save this into our app and it then is stored as a Personal Trek.

Treks are a unique feature of the Traveller app that allows you to use turn by turn route guidance when offline.

So when offline, you can either:
1. open any ExplorOz Trek, or Personal Trek you've already created that contains turn by turn guidance and this is all retained in the saved offline Trek.
2. create a route using straight line between points
3. tap on any Place shown on the map and see the distance and direction you are from that Place - this changes as you move towards/away from it (this doesn't require creation of a route).
4. if no Place is shown on the map where you want, you can tap the PIN, then press SAVE. This creates a marker on the map - now follow step 3 above. These personal places can be deleted when no longer required if just used for a temporary requirement or tagged to a folder for future use etc. Can also be saved into the public Places dataset by changing the save as source from Personal to ExplorOz.
