This place deserves better than ‘Soak’. It’s a stunning high vista over a large
pool in the
Rudall River. You can
camp in the sandy riverbed but we chose to stay higher on the rock/scree bank, still in shade of the white gums, and wander down to the river for walking or swimming. On the other side is a striking white
granite(?) outcrop - this catches your eye from a couple of k’s away as you approach. We called this place ‘
Black Falcon Camp’ after a pair of black falcons nesting in one of the white gums. The bird life here is prolific.
It’s a 2km walk to
Kalkan Kalkan Soak. We had intended to
camp at KKS but the road was washed out past this spot.
