Hi All we are planning a trip to the Red Dust Revival at Lake Perkolilli near Kalgoorlie in September. We are driving from SA. It's just as much about the trip as the destination so are there any more interesting ways to get there other than bitumen across the Nullarbor and up? We are all self contained, no caravans, a couple of small camper trailers and are happy with dirt all the way.

G'day, lucky you, is on my bucket list. I would go via Glendambo,
Goog's Track, bitumen to Madura, North to
Forrest, then West to Lake Perkolilli. Total 2275 km's with 985 km's offroad. Enjoy your travels.

Didn't you read the
West Australian on the weekend which shows the border will not be open until 2052.

The Anne Beadell.
West from
Coober Pedy or north from the highway at Nullarbor to
Cook and
Voakes Hill Corner and then west. The via
Cook route will show you a Nullarbor that is rarely seen.

It is a while ago but we enjoyed it immensly.
Not driven the bit between
Voakes Hill Corner and
Coober Pedy yet, but hope to drive the
Emu road and see a bit more of that country later this year.
EDIT: I should emphasise that the route we took across the Nullarbor started from
Nullarbor Roadhouse and went via
Knowles Cave to
Cook which is a wonderful 2 wheel track. The option is a 4 lane wide graded road (some of which you need to traverse anyhow).
Cheers,
Peter

We hope to be at Emu on 19/8/22 and again on 22/8/22.
But we don't need to cross the WA border. :)

Peter

Hi Eric,
There is also the Old Eyre Highway as
well, maybe not as adventurous as the Anne Beadell, but another suggestion to think about.
Macca.

Just be aware that you need permission from
Yalata to traverse the section through their land.
Cheers,

Never heard of this event Eric.
I checked a 1959 map and sure enough - there is a reserve 18801, dedicated to Motor Sports and racing.
Thanks
