Really? I only recently watched a show about it on the ABC last week? What's happened?

Been shut for a while. Over 2 years. I was near there 4 weeks ago and visited the river where the entry to the station is...all shut!! Wasn't the show about Morning Glory and Burketown?

the actual station operation is shut? or just the tourism/camping (that's not what this Place marker is for).

I stand to be corrected, but the tourism side has been closed for years. It used to be called Escott Barramundi Lodge when we visited during the late 80s. I’m not sure when it closed exactly for tourism, but would think at least 10-15 years., if not longer.

Yes this thread was initiated as a comment posted on the Place marker for the station/homestead locality and the reason for my query to establish whether the comment made about it being closed was related to the station activities or if they were confused and referring to the long-closed campground/tourist operation that was indeed called Escott Barramundi Lodge (we also visited there over 20 years ago!).

Our Places database includes all stations/homesteads as a matter of public record that may or may not be in active use and may or may not offer something of interest to tourist. If it exists, it is mapped and the description determines what's there. Many became "ruins", some set up tourist ventures/operations, some get acquired by Aboriginal interests, others by wildlife conservatory activities, some become even become museums so whatever changes occurs I always jump onto any feedback that we get from the public (who are out there moving around) so that we can update the details in our live/dynamic content system. But unless the actual homestead has been demolished we don't remove a Station place marker. We can add/remove campground markers as they tend to come /go over the years but for historical reasons, the station homesteads are really quite significant so they simply get "updated" as a matter of public record.

There is also Escott Lodge Station further south...this I believe is the actual working station. could be wrong but it is much larger than its more Northly counterpart...Approx 17.801 --139.360
