Hyden- Norseman Road

Hi all, just wondering if anyone has crossed this road recently and if so, would it be OK to tow a small ally boat over.
TIA
Allan

I use that road quite regularly
As it's a main road to the mines it's usually in fair condition, with more seal every time I go on it.
The Hyden end of the dirt section at the mines can get a bit muddy after the rains, but it only takes a few days to dry out.
Where the Shire Boundaries change near the mines ( forgot which Shires they are ), the Norseman end of the road surfacing is in much better condition with a hard cap on it and a lot better drive.
Good stops along the way, I use the breakaways as a fave spot to camp.

" I use the breakaways as a fave spot to camp."

Yes indeed, an excellent camp. Road with camper trailer just fine.

Cheers

Noggins, can this road be considered a short cut fromHyden to Norseman or a scenic route?

John, it's both. All depends on whether you are in get-there mode or smell-the-flowers mode.

For us it's simply a scenic short-cut to the Eyre Hwy from Perth.

always check rd condition reports from local shires -esp if rain has been around area or expected to be.

These roads can be closed very quickly to protect them from damage. Granted now getting out of worse time of year for thunderstorms rain in the area

Shire of dundas (norseman) east end

Shire of kondinin (hyden) west end

Looking ahead to our own transit Hyden-Norseman on Thu 15 April, it seems TC Seroja will be dumping ~10-15 mm around 8pm Mon 12th on the Hyden-Forrestania stretch. While we've traversed that route several times, haven't had to deal with that much out there previously so I'm not sure how much it takes to disrupt an otherwise pleasant journey.

Anyone been through there after significant rain?

[Edit:] We're assuming that the current Dundas closure (fire->smoke) will have passed by then.
