Surveyor Generals Corner in 2017, tried very hard to arrange for an escort and pay the fee. Phone number just kept ringing out. You still need a transit permit to be in the area, but forget the extra fee and the escort. Just be respectful to grave of the elder (Eddy) that is buried there.

By the way, in case you are unaware, there are actually two corner posts, as the corner is a “dogleg”. The first post has a small
shelter near it, and the second post is about another 200 m further along the track just around a corner.

I believe the brass plate on the second post as been replaced since we were there in 2017.
