The first hit, as I know its going to be hard, but on a great track we love to drive.....its in South Australia.....
I wonder where I am?

Thanks equinox.
I did realise that but thought the subject shot might have been taken from below the right side that you cannot see in this take.
Seems I was hopeless.

Well it looks like I am the only one that has enjoyed this great little drive a few times when in this area.
Here are some more images for travellers to try and pin point this location.
This first image is the main track that you have to leave.
This is the main track you have to leave to get to the cairn
The track now turns into a great easy drive through Black Oak Country, and red sand...the country I love.
This is the Black Oak Country you are now travelling in
There is one special ruin that we never fail to stop at, as it is just so special.
The old wood stove is still in the ruin
You then enter open country and the sandy track goes into a
well used, wide road, as shown in my photos above. Still being remote, the old telegraph line is still in place, but seen better days.
The old telegraph line from over 100 years ago
I can not make it any easier than this, so if you have not been there you have missed out on a great drive.

What about the Johnsburg area. or is this too far east and then sth east. whoops miss read west of
Flinders Ranges, I'll look again.
What about Mount Wedge on the
Elliston Stock Route. That has a Trig below 400m and above 180m and the terrain looks similar. Not sure about the ruin though

Stephen, I feel that I have seen that stove in a ruined dwelling somewhere but I cannot remember where. I will be pleased to learn the answer. I certainly have seen remnants of old telegraph lines with mulga poles too, but do not know if it was the same one you pictured.
Your photos of the red dirt roads are making me very impatient to get out there again.

It’s our special drive we love doing Allan.
I just put some comparison photos from other times when we have driven this great road on Facebook, but here are some when the area was white like snow from Wildlowers.

Stephen, beautiful country, but you wouldn't want to put your front wheel into one of those wombat holes which are common on the Nullarbor, so makes me wonder if the 'Place' in question is getting toward there.
And if that
pic above is the "ruins" with the stove then no, I have not been there...... but would like to. lol

Allan
Kenella is a few kilometres north of New Years
Hill, so it’s all in the same area.
One time when we were camped out that way, we did a night walk to see if we could see any, but they must have been tucked up warm in bed......lol
The trip a couple of weeks ago, we were very lucky, and was able to photograph of one sitting on top of its warren, and the new lens worked a treat.
I have been waiting for years to photograph one of these

Also I should have said, you would be be safe to use a moving map in sections of the area, as there are a few more tracks in the area that have been put in for water runs and have beckoned me to see where they go.
Take the wrong track could mean lots of back tracking.
