If you have an interest in this area I have just posted a trip account covering our jaunt around this area over the past 3 weeks in our Patrol & Tvan.
Chillagoe to Pormpuraaw & back via Musgrave, Artemis Station, Dixie Track & a variety of station tracks.
Includes lots of pics, & a couple of short videos

Great area isn't it, and much less explored than other parts of the Cape. We managed to get ourselves lost a few years back cutting across from Artemis and Dixie direct to Dunbar. Ended up at a rather unfriendly station and told to bugger off, so spent a few hours working our way around various boundary fences in the hope of getting back on track. Made it to Dunbar crossing eventually, and enjoyed the detour !!

Fantastic report; very enjoyable read and very informative. Loved the river crossings and the birdies. Thanks heaps.
If the border ever opens we hope to get somewhere up that way, on way to Iron Range, next season, 2021.
Golden Shouldered is high on 'to get' our list as
well as many others, incl Sarus Crane... Any sightings?
Cheers. JB.

Hi JB, Thanks.
We didn’t see any Sarus Cranes whilst up there, but I’d reckon they’d be a good chance. We saw a pair at Liechardt Falls , south of
Burketown last September though. Iron range is wonderful, we were up there at
Portland Roads for 5 weeks last February. We are keen to get back there again when we can. You can read my blog entry about our time there at

Hi Cuppa. Just read your
Portland Roads blog. Great read and I'd kill for a sighting as good as your Palm Cockatoo effort. Cheers.
JB.
