Hi All

My Troopy snorkel has just about had it. Toyota want close to $500 for the bottom and middle pieces.
ARB want $600 for a Safari one, apparently some drilling is required, not so keen on drilling my Truck. They will fit it for me for only $400 LOL! Not worried about the "complexity" of fitting it, just don't see why after market suppliers couldn't make it work using existing mounts.
Interested to hear what other people are using and their experiences.

Thanks

Lyndon

Wow, OK, err, like I've just watched a YouTube video of someone fitting a Safari unit. Not rocket science but not a 5 minute job either. Really don't think I want to do that to my car. Have just done the ring around and can get the two pieces from Toyota for $380

Yeah, DIY fitting a snorkel is not for the faint of heart, especially on a new vehicle.

Years ago with help from my son I did a Safari snorkel on my then new Prado. Despite all the care in the world with the template, the big hole did not line up correctly and had to be enlarged. Only just got away with it being out of sight behind the body of the snorkel.

And only a couple of weeks ago I helped him do his (not Safari, another brand) on his brand new Colorado. Same thing. The template was perfectly positioned but the big hole needed considerable adjustment.

I have no personal experience but there were a couple of suggestions made in response to a similar question on the Troopcarriers of Australia Facebook Group. This was one of them: https://www.scintex.com.au/collections/toyota-snorkels/products/sherpa-4x4-toyota-landcruiser-single-piece-4wd-snorkel-kit The other was one available on E-bay but no link was provided. Both said they mounted to existing holes without modification.

I think this is the new link - Pete's link no longer works.

Hi Guys

Thanks for the reply's. I contacted Don Kyatt here and they have ordered me the Genuine unit at $140 less than I was quoted by Toyota. Go figure.
After watching that YouTube video it gave me more of an appreciation of the ARB install cost. You really do need a decent nibbler of some sort to tackle that guard. You have then exposed yourself to rust issues.
I plan to keep the vehicle indefinitely (unless I win lotto), so integrity is important to me.
Thanks again.

Cheers
Lyndon

Reinforced mine when it cracked about 9 years ago still good today. Used a small piece of plate on the inside where the riverts are.

Good work! I never thought of that.
Well I've ordered a new one now. I got 15 years out of the first one, so who knows if I'll be alive in another 15 to repair the next one :-)

Cheers

.
I did pretty much the same Harry.
Seems to be working OK.
Those OEM snorkels of Toyota must have been made in China.
