Hi Munji,

Have you posted this on the LCOOL (Landcruiser Owners On Line) forum? It is a forum specifically aimed at Landcruiser owners to ask technical questions of other Landcruiser owners. There is a section on that forum for 70 Series.

In response to your specific question, I have done this on my MY17 200 Series. On the 200 Series, the Jack is located in the RHS rear behind the side panel. I removed the jack and placed it in the drawers, then cut the side panel to make it large enough and installed two deep cycle batteries totaling 130 amps. The batteries fit in the space between the drawer and the side panel and into the space where the Jack used to be.

Munji,

Do you want electrical advice or just fitting options, or both?

Cheers

Hi Munji,
I can't help you with the rear fit specifically as I haven't done that with my 76 (2011 model). I managed to get mine in under the bonnet though. It is a tight squeeze and not all batteries will fit . Happy to put up pics if you want.

I have a 2019 VDJ78 GXL Troopy and have the AGM installed behind the second row seat.
Took one look under the bonnet and decided there was no way I was going to move all the electronics to fit one in the usual place behind the fuel filter. Instead I used that space to mount a prefilter.

I kept it simple - a Maxifuse and 6B&S wiring feeding a DC-DC and fusebox on a carpeted board in the rear near the battery.

.
In any case Phil, the engine bay is no place for an AGM battery. It killed a couple of mine and after measuring the temperature I relocated my AGM to the cabin. No more trouble.

Yep, heat was the other reason. Too many downsides to putting extra batteries under the bonnet and its pretty easy to find a good spot inside the cab.
