Has anyone here visited Newhaven Wildlife Sanctuary in the NT? I'm interested in it, but there isn't much information online.

If you've been there, do you have any maps, descriptions of walks, etc.? In a digital format that you can share online?

I did contact them via email, but they aren't willing to send out any materials right now. Apparently they're currently updating their literature.

Candace, try calling the sanctuary tomorrow, I was enquiring about another Australian Wildlife property and got nowhere for similar reasons till I called. When I explained that I was planning for well after the Corona thing dies down on the phone they opened up and sent me an email.

I visited a couple of years ago.

It's a wildlife refuge known for the 10,000 ha fenced enclosure to keep cats and foxes away from threatened mammals.

Tourism isn't its main business, even less so at the moment.

Most visitors go there for the birds. It used to be owned by Birdlife Australia.

The camp ground is managed by volunteers. It's got an impressive bird bath that attracts Major Mitchells, Zebra Finches, Red-capped Robins and others. There are solar showers. From it there's a walk you can do up a nearby ridge that gives great views to Mt Liebig to the south.

Otherwise your walks will be cross country. There's a few drives.

I'd advise waiting till there's some water in the lake.
