Hi Folks

We are heading up to the Kimberley shortly and would like to know if Cape Leveque to Derby "short cut" via Bedunburra is possible?
We are two 4x4s towing camper trailers, so happy to take what looks like a "short cut" heading east from Beagle Bay and through to Bedunburra.

We were up on the Peninsula for 7 months last year, closest town was Beagle Bay.We thought about taking that route but advice was that if we were able to get through we'd probably spend more time clearing the road of fallen trees etc than driving. I'd suggest it would take a lot less time to go back down to Broome & across. If yo do go that way take a drag chain & a chainsaw.

Yes, it is possible, is it a short cut, maybe! We, three vehicles and camper trailers, did the other way, Derby to Middle Lagoon, got lost for a few hours on a cattle station that was mustering, eventually found the right track, then got bogged on a very sandy stretch towards the end of the "shortcut", should have taken the bypass around said sandy section. Very "doable", I think if we didn't have the dramas, it would have been a good shortcut, was a good drive anyway. Enjoy.

Forgot to add that there is a wet section of the track, but the bottom is solid, had no difficulties traversing that section and we didn't need a chain saw.
