Perhaps Ford in their never ending quest for cheaper components have not selected suitable systems bits. Strange VW went away from 2 litre engines to a much larger V6, and now Ford are going smaller and smaller. 40% smaller seems a bit odd even if the poor little thing has it's fuel and turbo pressures much higher to make the necessary power and torque, one wonders about the life of engines.

From what I gather it only affects a small batch of engines. The cause is the Continental/Vdo injectors have a problem with the surface coating on the inside of the injectors becomes unstuck blocking the injectors.

I know nothing about the Ute scene but 2.0L TD sounds tiny for a big vehicle. It must be working hard if its towing something substantial or to its legal limits!! Michael

2 litres! The poor little thing. 2 litres should be kept for buzz boxes that live in cities IMHO. Cheers from us at Kilcowera.

As the raceboys say, only milk should come in 2 litres. Nothing beats "cubic inches" when you want your vehicle to perform, particularly when you've got 2 to 3 tonnes hanging off the towbar.

No doubt the Ford injector problem can be sheeted home to Ford bean-counters, cost-cutting again. They're experts at it. Can't have total reliability, might not sell a heap of expensive parts on a regular basis.

Cheers, Ron.

G'day Ron
Fraud and GM both build in the demise of their vehicles. Good for after sales parts income. Many of their models have almost gone from our roads long before the Mazda's and Toyota's begin to even blow taillight globes. The question amongst Commodore owners used to be, " how many coil packs have you replaced?" With Ford it was other parts, autos and head gaskets.
