F350 on csr

Travelled the CSR with a bloke in an F350 in June. He did it pretty easily although fuel was a bit touch and go at times. Had that spray on skin stuff to protect duco, worked well. He's on one of the Facebook CSR groups.

Friend did it not long ago (South to North) Got plenty of pin stripping (scratches) broke 2 mirrors & due to being a 350 with dual wheels, struggled more on the dunes & had more more rear wheel punchers & rock jams than he's son with a F250 (but he was also carry a lot more weight) F350 supa cab with tray, 2 adults & F250 dual cab with std tub 2 adults & 2 teenagers & both are pretty std trucks both about 2004 models with 7.3 V8 Diesel

Parts of the CSR are very narrow. We drove with the mirrors in on a DMax

Not sure if it still applies but Cunyu Station had a ban on anything bigger than a Troopie.

On my first CSR trip in 2007 there was a F250 dual cab in the group. There were a few passengers and the ability to swap seats and a ride in the big Ford was keenly sought.

Bit more comfort and leg room I think. Certainly no trouble with the dunes. The wider track might expose tyres to more sidewall damage.

In the Gard's Travellers Guide there is a picture of a F100 with a camper back taken in 1987.

I know of another person who did it more recently in a Silverado. Fuel use was an issue and he was pretty low towards the end.

Odd, during my three visits to Oz, I can't remember seeing a SuperDuty anywhere. Maybe because they were all out on the CSR? :)
