If your thinking of doing the tour stop thinking and do it, cant recomend it highly enough.
Getting there is a bit of a pain from QLD though.
We went via the Plenty,
the rock,
coober pedy then the track south from
Kingoonya, that road is in very poor condition so the return from
Ceduna was past Pt
Augusta, a lot longer and we tried to
camp at
Woomera but there was no room so had to push on through the night almost to the territory border to
camp, slow going with only factory lights. From
Ceduna to the border is way too far for us but had no choice.
From there to Alice then back via the sandover, that road was in top condition and my faverite bit, 2 days and saw nobody, a real treat after travelling during school holidays.
