Has anybody driven from
Gregory...either into or out of Adels Grove in the last few days and can tell me how good or bad the road is? TIA.

We're in Adel's Grove now. Having done the
Outback Way end-to-end earlier this month, I'd suggest that unless you drive a minesite road train you'll find it fairly rough. Apart from the good sealed bits, there are patches of vintage bitumen that is nearly all gone and holey, withcrushed stone or gravel corros for the rest.No water crossings. One camper left his van in
Cloncurry and Tritoned in, saying he didn't reckon his (on-road) van would have survived.
I've driven on worse stuff, but that's not saying much.

Zippo
it would be better if they just graded that vintage bitumen section away, it’s been crap for ages, I was back there in April this year again (on the way in) but I think it’s all part of the Qld anti fatigue program or the local councillors have shares in a shock absorber company (LOL)

It's actually a dust suppression layer by the Century
mine operations back in CRA's days (reputedly). Yes, would be better to have it graded off.

Many thanks everyone. We spent 3 days at Adels with our van. Luckily no damage, but yes, the road was terrible...it seemed worse leaving!! Luckily hubby has lots of driving experience so know a couple of tricks to help. Perhaps letting the tyres down helped too...as did driving ...very carefully..in the tabledrains and not exceeding about 50-60kph.
