Hi folks,
Can anybody out there tell me whether MIlenco Aero 3 towing mirrors fit a 120 series Prado?
Any tips for success?
Cheers

I have a pair used when towing with an NW Pajero. I have only towed for about 4,000 k. Once in that distance the wind off an oncoming truck was sufficient to blow my drivers side mirror out of alignment. Maybe Prado's mirrors are less prone to this, but be aware it can happen.

On my Pajero, I have made up a mirror restrain from an electrical wire and a small galvanised clip at each end. One end clips firmly into a notch on the front flare, the other fits snugly onto the mirror body casing. The length is just enough to become taut when the door is closed. When I open the door, the retraining cable goes slack. The mirror clamp has to be thin (I made it from a thin piece of galv iron, bent into a narrow U shape), so that it doesn't interfere with normal operation of the mirror. This system works very
well for me. For a while I used an ocker strap, but ultimately I lost it, and anyway, an on-coming B double would normally blow the mirror back anyway. You need non-extendable restraint o stop the mirror from moving. A side benefit is if you put the restraining wire under slight tension when the door is closed, the mirror doesn't vibrate as much during normal driving. This is only necessary for the Driver's door, not the passenger side.

Thank you Genny.
Yes, I am aware of the negatives of clip on style mirrors vs fixed type (such as Clearviews), but for the amount of use they are likely to get in the next couple of years and the cost, they seem to get the best reviews overall.

Genny,
This would appear to be a problem on some models of Pajero.
My mate has the same problem with his drivers side mirror with a clamp on extension mirror. (not Milenco)
It would appear the spring loaded mechanism is just not strong enough to overcome the wind impact of oncoming trucks, as they pass.
I have no such problem with my Colorado using Milenco extension Mirrors.
The ultimate fix would be to replace the entire mirror assembly with Clearview external extension mirrors, but they are not a cheap fix.

Hi Genny
One time when we were travelling down the Stuart Highway in the NT, we were sitting on 110kph with the camper in tow and our mirrors were as stable as anything, even when passing road trains coming the other direction.
Cheers

Take a look at the Brunsgard range of clip on mirrors. Been using them for the last 6 or so years and in that time done a deal of bitumen and a heck of a lot of outback tracks. All with no issues. These mirrors are made from aircraft grade aluminium are extremely strong and wind resistant and offer excellent increased vision

It would appear that the Milenco mirrors do not work so
well on some vehicles.I have them on my challenger and they are not very stable. It would appear from reading on another
forum that BT 50,s later model Navaras and Pajero/Challenger have stability problems. Regards

After much trial and error I found the Milenco's were the only clip on mirror that fitted due to the assymetric mirrors on the vw. They have been undisturbed by road trains and semi trailers, stay set and don't vibrate.
Don't fall off on corrugations either.
The vw mirrors are pretty robust as standard with strong springs holding them in place.
Very happy with them
