What's New on doing the Canning Stock Route differently - 2019?

On 15 May 2019 Australian Garry Connell broke the record for the fastest traverse, on a motorbike, in 38.51hrs mins. The previous record was set by Australian Scott Britnell in May 2015 at 47.5 hours; in abysmally wet conditions.

There are two fully supported cyclists on the CSR at present heading north, with a diversion for repairs to the 4x4. I am not really tracking them as they are supported and my personal interest is unsupported. By all accounts they are having a good time.

Two unsupported cyclists from 2017 and 2018 are having another go. Aaron Lisco from USA is starting out from Wiluna 01 June. I will be SPOT tracking him. The Polish cyclist is starting from Halls Creek mid June.

I am in South Africa this year. Will see where I am next season. A trip out to Australia is still on my to do list. Just have to sort a few things out before then.

This is ridiculous! Since when has the Canning been a race and who officials that judge the records. Will only be a matter of time before someone is killed.

Plenty of people have died on the Canning Stock Route. All 4x4 people.

Average speed ~40km hr.. Doubt he did it to impress anyone. By the way he is +60 and has done the CSR numerous times at a more leisurely pace. A well planned personal adventure.

It will never be a real record as he excluded the Sturt Creek section.
To claim any record for the CSR this section must be included.
(some may say you have to visit all the wells also)

The run can only be described as "Fastest CSR ride on motor bike excluding the entire Elvire/Sturt creek sections from Old Halls Creek to Bililuna"

The record it was chasing was Scott Britnell's - the route being the same but in the opposite direction. Point A to Point B is named.

An update on cyclist Aaron Lisco who left Wiluna 01 June 2019. He bailed on the second day. Experienced very strong head winds. Might have a third go, this time from Halls Creek on 15 June.

The polish cyclist Marcin is readying to depart Halls Creek 06 June. This will be his second attempt.

Aaron Lisco aborted his north bound cycle into strong wind and returned to Wiluna. A restart is unlikely.

Marcin Wegrzyk started his traverse in Halls Creek on 06 June and is between Wells 47 and 48 today. Heavy going into a strong headwind. One day only cycling 34km, but still going forward. If he can get to around Well 41, I think he will be okay. By then he is fully committed and deep into his journey.

The two fully supported cyclists Max and William are out of the desert. They cycled part of the way and took a ride in the 4x4 support vehicle at other times.
