It depends on whether you travelling via Keelbottom Creek or Charters Towers.
If you're travelling via Charters Towers I'd recommend Fletcher Creek, the
Gilbert River bridge, and on to
Normanton.
If you
camp at Fletcher Creek you can park on the southern side of the
bridge on the Lynd Hway, or cross over and immediately turn right down to the Burdekin River. This is an easy 10klm, but very nice.
The
campsite at the crossing of the Gilbert River is quite small, so get in early.

Julia Creek is a great place to stay either the caravan park or the Rv park. Great little town which goes out of the way to welome RV;s. To stay atthe RV
camp you must be self contained. On Monday nights the caravan park host a dinner put on by one of the local service organisations. $15 for a 2 cource meal, typical country hospitality.
