Hey
Dingo
I live up here and have done the crossing many times.
Been a poor wet.season, which will help your cause.
Crossing depends on your rig. If heading OUT of the park it will be easier as you will be going down the crossing in question.
NOTE
It is not a case of driving directly across, you drive down, then along and then back out of the creek.
Don't get to freaked out about it.
Sandy Creek is nice, Surprise creek is AWESOME.
BAD NEWS, will be stagnant by AROUND the end of July. If you are lucky, early August.
Facilities have been upgraded at Surprise, not sure to what degree though.
The drive though that park is FANTASTIC,
well, almost.
The idiots in charge have seen fit to install hundreds of speeds humps. Like, really! It's a track that you would normally drive at around 30 k/hr.
Just drive to the side of
the humps where possible to make the trip enjoyable.
Don't forget
places like,
Walker Creek, Green Ant AND
THE CASCADES.
Re
the Cascades. Do the walk up the
hill first, you will be hot and sweaty, then walk down to the pools. A lovely couple of kay walk down the creek swimming in different spots. Take water and food as you can spend 1/2 day enjoying just this spot.
Cheers
Lyndon

Hi
Dingo
I'd definitely be giving it a go!
They can be funny about when they open things. They open the Reynolds crossing VERY late most years.
Call these guys a couple of weeks before to get the latest info.
Walker Creek ranger Station 08 8978 2302 (no answer, just keep trying).
Even if the Reynolds is closed, you still may be able to access Surprise creek via the other side of the park. If it is still flowing and this is your only option it would still be worth while.
Cheers
Lyndon
