Just received my approved permit to travel roads in
Maralinga Tjarutja lands.
Wondering if anyone has any recent info on the condition of Vokes
Hill road heading south of the AB Highway?
Also, what's required to visit the township? Is it possible, do you need to sign up for a tour? Can you just walk in?
Thanks.

The road south from Vokes
Hill Corner via
Cook is fine. Note that there is now a detour that goes west and then south again that bypasses the Aboriginal wells and is still not shown on many maps.
What permits do you have, because to get to
Maralinga township you will have to drive all the way south to the Eyre Highway and then north again via
Ooldea, unless you get special permission to use the Aboriginal Business road that goes south east past
Oak Valley (closed) community. This is also a good road (not a "track").
Cheers,
Peter

Thanks for the info Peter. I was emailing the
Maralinga permit folks in
Ceduna yesterday and sorted out where and where not I can go.
I think
Maralinga will have to wait this time as it will be too much of a detour to include in this trip.
Thanks for help.
