HI everyone,
I am interested in your thoughts for fund raising activities/options for a charity (your thoughts here are welcome also) of choice for this years gathering.
The photo comp is a lot of work for the EO team and the painting although very nice doesn't seem to work as
well as it might.
So any and all suggestions welcome.
PS any business members out there interested in donations I will be glad to hear from you.
Regards
Nick

Good morning all
And whilst the raffle tickets are being sold, Nick will be busy encouraging attendees to dig deep and participate in the holiest of games - "Horseshoes Exploroz Style".
I won't be attending this year as I have other commitments such as Blazeaid volunteer work in central Queensland but I have offered the horse shoes to Nick and Jane so the tradition can continue. Just need an attendee to collect when they pass through
Tamworth. Nick has my phone number.
Cheers

May i suggest you create hampers on "themes" to raffle at event. Set the themes and ask attendees to bring an item/s to donate to the theme hampers. This way you might get unused items of low value combined to create a valuable, fun hamper, full of goodies.
I suggest this, as I have lots of new 4wd/pioneering books and magazines I can donate. And have seen this concept work
well at quiz nights etc.

I think the daily raffle and horse shoe comps were great.
Maybe BlazeAid could be considered as a suitable charity for a donation.
Well done
John T for the work you are doing there.
Cheers
Mike

Hi Nick,
I have never thought of suggesting Blazeaid as a recipient of any EO gathering. However now that Cruza (the honeymooners LOL) has raised that organisation might I suggest you look at their webpage -
http://blazeaid.com.au/ - and read what is said about "Donations". Blazeaid is a registered charity with Public Benevolent Institution status.
Kevin Butler is the co founder and the man to talk to.
Cheers

Auctions are a good money raiser. Get everyone to bring a saleable item or three for the auction.

If auctioning items donated by businesses ensure that the prize will be delivered. Having won the major prize at an earlier Gathering I was pleased until the donor decided that the prize wasn't happening.
