Hi All,
I would like to know if anyone has this model Forgen?
I have purchased one without the hub plate and would like to know the dimensions so I can get one made.
Any help would be great.

Hello Steve,
Is yours a vertical axis generator and you have the generator part but not the Savonius vane unit?
If so you may be able to make the parts out of poly pipe, some brackets and a suitable bearing at the top of the shaft.
Cheers

Forgen have folded and disappeared off the face of the Earth - the company that made Forgen products was Goodridge Engineering in the U.K., who went into liquidation in 2015.

You'll be dead lucky to get any assistance from anyone, and I'd be doubtful about whether there are any other Forgen 8500 owners in Australia.
You may just be lucky enough to find someone in the U.K. with one, but it's a needle-in-a-haystack job.

Cheers, Ron.

Thanks Ron,

But not entirely correct. Forgen are still made in Uk and currently have two new models available in Australia thru Solazone.
My model has high usage among yachties to maintain battery charge when not being used.
I will try that avenue next. I am also getting a plate made but don’t know how successful that will be.

O.K. It appears the Forgen corporate trail is a meandering trail with plenty of dead ends.
It appears the driving force behind the original Forgen and Goodridge Eng, was one Chris Williams, the MD.
Williams relaunched himself as Forgen Renewables, which can still be found in some searches - and which gives contacts as an email address and a website - forgenrenewables.com.

There's a YouTube video from 2015, with Williams sprouting about Forgen Renewables products.

However, the forgenrenewables.com website has been abandoned and is now a Chinese language website - but a Facebook post tells us that Williams merged Forgen Renewables with a company known as Prolectric Services Ltd - a mechanical and electrical and renewable technology installation business.

It appears Williams took the Forgen intellectual property with him each time, and it appears he's now getting Forgen vertical axis wind turbines manufactured somewhere and selling them via Prolectric.

Prolectric advertise the Forgen turbines on their operational website - but it appears Williams has abandoned all horizontal axis turbines, and now flogs only 3 models of VAWT's.

It may be worth trying to contact Williams via Prolectric, to see if he still has any blueprints for his original HAWT's, such as your 8500 model.

Cheers, Ron.
