This earlier thread has now dropped of the front page but I thought some might be interested in some finding on my new Thumper Max Dual Air Compressor

Member - Scott & Sally raise a point which I was not aware if, he stated that the compressor has a Pressure Cut-off Switch built in and reading the specifications it will cut out at 125psi and turn back on at 90psi.

I have just checked mine and found this to be true. The compressor runs for about 2-3 seconds after releasing the trigger.

What this means for me is that I can connect the compressor direct to the started battery an along with an extension air hose, I can reach all wheels on the car and van leaving the compressor to start up once I pull the trigger.

The items I have purchased are as follows -
Thumper Max Dual Air Compressor at $129.00 from 4wd Super Centre at $129.00

Blackridge Air Hose, Recoil - 1 / 4inch X 50ft from Supercheap at $26.22

Car-Digital-Tire-Pressure-Gauge-Meter-Tire-Air-In from eBay for $21.79

The other thing I noticed is the amount of air supplied at the valve connection point was very substantial and I can see myself using the compressor to blow the dust out of my computers etc.

Overall I am very impressed with my various purchases at $177.01.

Make sure you fit a battery to compressor isolating switch, ie heavy one, so if anything goes wrong with the pressure sensor and system it doesn't/can't flatten your battery.
Having that pressure cut out is handy. I use similar for running an air greasegun plus other things.

As this unit can drag up to 90A it is going to only be connected to the starter battery with the motor running.

.
I know it says "90 AMPS" on the data but you must appreciate that those are "Chinese Amps" so when converted to Good 'Ol Aussie Amps it is only about half of that.

The lead is possibly half the size you would fit to a 50 amp anderson plug. Maybe it "tries" to drag 90 at startup.

AMPS, is that Asian Motor Power System?

Nah, the lead has 'Oxygen-free Boron Enriched' copper. Could easily handle a couple hundred amps.

From my limited experience with these plastic air hoses, I'd be either changing, or supplementing it for a 10mm ridgey didge air hose, at least 6M long. Either Nitto or Ryco air fittings at each end will ensure you have a reliable transfer of air.

Same with hose on that air gun, swap it for more 10mm.

I run a Projecta AC Pro 12V Typhoon Air Compressor.
A powerful Air Compressor with 600 watt motor
Twin Piston Drive Delivering 150 litres per minute of air
100A Insulated Battery clips with 1.8 metre lead for direct battery connection and On/Off switch
6 metre Coiled Hose allows you to reach all tyres without disconnecting compressor
Removable Easy clean Air Filter also helps to extend compressor life
Remote Pressure gauge with dual KPA and PSI readings
Doesn't come with a remote shut-off but does come with a hard case and a long lead and hose.
This has spent 5 years bouncing around in my trailer.

I also have one of these and it works Ok - I also bought the Aldi 4wd compressor which is a single cylinder (also available elsewhere under different brand names for a lot more $$$) for $99.

I did a side by side comparison to pump up my 35" tyres on a warmish day. From flat to 35psi took the Aldi pump about 5 minutes while the twin cylinder took about 8 minutes and neither stopped because of over heating.

Both work good enough, and both are sold under various brand names and at various prices. I now keep the Aldi one in the big 4wd and the ebay one in the little 4wd.

Considering the max amp is 45 the wiring looks pretty small on the Projecta as well. I doubt weather many compressors have the correct size wiring for their amp rating.
I bought a 110 Lpm Rough Country a while ago and replaced the undersized wires which looked like twin core 4mm to twin core 6mm and the wire is now around 400mm long because it's permanently mounted in a tool box.

Just a comment on these clip on valve connectors. I find mine was a pain as it had to be held with one hand just so to prevent air escaping at the valve.

Fitted a screw on air connector and now have just to deal with the air trigger to pump up, much easier.

Agree, but found that if I then turned the clip-on clockwise a bit , it wound down the threads a little and sealed. Graham.

Having the clip on the end if one of the reasons I went for this. Trying to screw the original screw connection on can be a PITA.

The main reason I posted this was to point out that the compressor will shut off when the rigger is released which it does with 1 or 2 seconds of releasing (closing) the trigger.

I agree with others that it probably will not pull 90 Amps but it will be in excess of the 10 Amps I have available via Anderson plugs at the back of my car from the Aux battery.
