I have been to 16 of the towns/places above as well as the old ruins north of Burra on the Barrier Highway.

David and I have been to 27 out of the 30 listed - the 3 exceptions are Dalmore Downs, Breakfast Creek Hotel, and Pine Gap (although I have passed the gates many times).

Midnight Oil is my favourite band. I saw them in the 80's many many times and I saw them in concert this year too. Thank you for a great post.

Now - to make this even more relevant to ExplorOz - in the list given by the OP some places are automatically hyperlinked. This occurs only when there is a photo on the Places listing page. Let's see if before the end of the year if we can get photos added to the specific page listings for each in our Places system so that they all hyperlink. Please have a go folks - surely we can dig up some photos of these places?

I had to look it up...Brisbane CBD...not my scene. Of everywhere in Oz it's the place I've not really spent time in, just skirted around it.

Brisbame CBD is worth a visit Michelle... use it as a gateway to visit historic places such as Fort Lytton, St Helena Island, Boggo Rd Goal, Wolston House, or lunch at Brekky Creek Hotel to check out it's architecture (The Pancake Manor in the city is another wonderful architectural building internally also) and then walk over the road to see Newstead House, Southbank and The Kangaroo Point Cliffs are worth a walk through (the cliffs are nicer lit up at night, and you can rock climb and abseil them), Mt Cootha is well worth a visit for it's view from the lookout, climb The Story Bridge if you want, there's a nice cycle pathway right along the river edge (mostly) that pretty much takes you from The Brekky Creek Hotel to past West End, or just do a walk through the city centre checking out the historic buildings such as THESE and more....there's obviously more places to visit and things to do also (like visiting Moreton and Stdadbroke Islands to camp and 4wd), but the above should fill a few days to start with...lol.

I don't know what it's like these days but it used to be a great place for a big steak.

Still the same, pick your steak. I was there in a lot in 1966 and went in for a beer 'On the Wood' from the bar last year, after 51 years. They have a wooden keg on the bar at 12 noon. It' a magnificent building.
You need to get out more if you haven't been there.
I've been to 24 if Burni is meant to be Burnie.

Cheers,

Sorry Rumpig, its not been an intentional avoidance of Brisbane, I think its just circumstances. I grew up in Sydney and now in Perth so its not easy to just pop over there on a whim these days as any trip back over east tends to be back to Sydney (ageing parents etc). I'm sure at some point it will happen and I'll make a point now of checking it out.

All good Michelle...was just pointing out things to see here, should in the future you end up with time to look around the city. Much of Brisbanes tourist advertising seems to be about Southbank or Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary or go to the theme parks on the Gold Coast etc, but there’s plenty of other stuff to check out that’s better IMO.

.
Yep, every one of them..... with several provisos.

"Mallee". Which Mallee, been to several places known as "Mallee". Murray Mallee, Vic Mallee, etc.
"North Shore". Again, which one?. Been to several. Nearest is 10k from my home.
"Burni"? Presume that to be Burnie, Tasmania. If so then yes.
"Lismore Road". If you mean the road from Bangalow to Lismore, then yes.
"Pine Gap". Well not into it, but as far as the public can go.
"Dalmore Downs". Well, went right past it on the Barkly, yes.

And the "Burra" bonus. Well of course, I was born and raised in SA
.
"Dobroyd Point" was a fluke. I have twice visited a nephew who live in Dudley St.

Cheers
Allan

Crikey - you've been busy noting them all down - Perth isn't listed ...this is what I saw there - October 2017. Quite amazing from 10m.

Been to Sydney - over rated :)

I've been to all but four - Darwin, Kakadu, Pine Gap and Dalmore Downs. And for the bonus I got to Burra.
