Hi just wondering if anyone can advise on vehicle access into
Valley of the Giants area on Fraser island and if there are any short walks (max of 4k or 5km) there.
From the Hema map it says rough/overgrown track to Hikers
camp which is ok if a vehicle can get through. i cant find any info on vehicle access or short walks there. Just wondering if driving through the Northern drive or seeing
Pile Valley negates the need to go to Giants area.
Cheers
Fozzy

Check the latest conditions report. The northern forest drive was closed as recently as
Easter for bridgework. They were looking at bypass. So far as I remember there is only the one road through that area. The
camp area is walk in only and is part of the Fraser Island great walk track. See below for links and map.

Last year we met one car driving through a section of
Valley of the Giants walk. If you download the Great Walk map (second link under "Getting there and getting around" in the link given above by gbc), you will see a loop track comes into the Valley area from off the Northern Rd. Not sure whether everyone has access to this track, and it's quite narrow.
Along this track you can access the Giant Tallowwood (just off the track) and the Giant Satinay (a 3.5km walk each way), plus just stroll though the
Valley of the Giants.
The
Valley of the Giants is different from
Pile Valley, but whether you would think it worth the trouble is another matter.
Cheers,
John
