Sealed for many years.Sandstone is an interesting and neat tiny town. Lovely little shire owned caravan park which has had new facilities since our visit ten years ago, and what they had rated as the best amenities block I have seen. Friendly little community. We called in for a night and stayed for three. Did a loop drive though Lake Mason and beyond. There is camping at Lake Mason.

You might be thinking of the meeka to wiluna section of goldfields hwy thats still has a gravel section involved.

Always worth checking out main roads website for any travel alerts been plenty of rain that way with few periodic closures - that are gets more from summertime storms than winter fronts.
