My son lives in
Castlemaine Vic and needs a replacement gearbox for his Troopy. It was making squealing noises and grinding in and out of gears on the weekend.
We were due to head to Lake Eyre this coming weekend but looks like it's just the wife and myself heading off.
Any leads to a gearbox greatly appreciated.

Give Australian Transmission Components a call in Wagga ph: 02 69336888
They offer an excellent re manufactured change over service, you could still have the Troopy join you on the Lake Eyre trip this weekend.

Thanks Mike,
About $4000 change over and they have one in stock.
I just need to convince the
young bloke to get a reconditioned one rather than an unknown one from the wreckers.

No probs.....no affiliation with them but a happy customer.
Saved me from a nasty headache when we were still a long way from
home.

Back in early '90's, I paid $3800 for a reconditioned gearbox/transfer case for the 60 series we had then, so $4K doesn't seem too bad.
Enjoy the Lake Eyre trip,
Bob

Hi
Takes about 10 hrs for a basic to moderate overhaul including in/out of car .
Local Toyota dealer was advertising new cruiser g/boxes for $ 4000 plus gst
a few years ago now . Always pay to
check . Some major components are expensive to replace !!
