Hi All,

I have recieved my new cdma phone, and after having a play with it, I am very happy with the phone.

I have read on previous threads people talking about a patch lead to connect the phone to a 6dba aerial.

Could anyone please advise me of the following:

1. What is a patch lead exactly
2. Any known installers in Sydney who supply & install these with aerials to the car.

Many Thanks

Onya Tony - Ive been checking into the 3245 myself for a few weeks and will buy one shortly - am thinking there might be a few end of FY sales ... I don't have to hurry.....wadja pay for it ..? Which plan did you choose (if you don't mind :o).
Also re the antennas......you may have seen in my earlier posts, Kyocera HQ reckon an external antenna is not a good idea
but that's probably coporate waffle, because they don't have one available. The essence of the discussion seems to be that IF an IN_CAR system has an external antenna port that mates with the back of the phone, how can that be different than simply plugging an antenna into the phone if you don't want to use the whole car kit ! The various suppliers are suggestijg you can do the latter. The kits have a cable and antenna set up with sticky pads for the windscreen. You can very easily install it yourself in minutes it seems. There is one caveat to the issue though -Kyocera in Sydney suggested that the antenna port on the back of the phone was not robust and was meant to mate with a stable cradle fitting (male plug). The movement in the patch lead may bugger up the port !

Hi Banjo,

I am with telstra, and my previous GSM contract expired, so I got the phone (kept same number) on a 24 month contract on a $50/month plan with no upfront costs.

I use the phone for business so the $50 plan is good for me.

My previous phone was a nokia 3210, so the noticeable changes between phones are:

1. Kyocera has a speaker phone, so no need for incar kit or earpiece when driving. (Maybe this is now a normal feature with all phones)

2. Has better coverage for me at home than the GSM network (Campbelltown NSW).

3. Although different menu configuration to nokia, still easy to learn and get used to

Thanks

Tony

We have two of the Kyocera 3245 CDMA phones and reckon that they are the best phones we have ever owned. When we purchased ours because we had an ABN number we recieved two in car hands free kits with them only cost me $ 220 to get them fitted in both my vehicles.

Howdy all ( Bozo From Bundy)
I purchased one of these phones two days ago and intend using it on my trip to the cape will be interesting to see how it performs on the trip, did get the external ariel which I fitted myself no big deal got it from Telstra on a package deal on a $10.00
plan as you see I don't use the mobiles much hate the bloddy things but are a necessary evil HA! HA!.lol
Has any body tried these CDMA phones out in the scrub??? I know there will be black spots all over the country but telstra tell me there are certain areas in the cape they do work??? has anybody had experiences in this area with phones???
Not being a million heir and wanting a communications system of some sort just for the emercency emergency thing what is the cheapest and best with out going overboard. I really don't have space for all those ariels and I don't really want the troopy to look like a fishing trawler on land LOL Thanks all Bozo
