My brother in law and close mate has been badly damaged by stroke. In his pre-stroke life he was a wool classer and buyer who just loved being in the bush. His wife, my sister has taken on the role of his full-time carer and is simply exhausted.
I would love to try to take him away camping as simply sitting by a
camp fire or holding a fishing line just gives him so much peace.
I am trying to track down a van to hire as my idea may be a complete disaster or just not doable given the care and support he needs.
But I figure we can not stop trying. If any one has an advise for me on getting my hands on an access van for hire or loan, I would love to hear from you.

Peter there are lots of
places that hire caravans and campers.
This little known resource should help
Also you forgot to say where you want it.

Thanks Tony
I understand that there are lots of hire sites for caravans and camper trailers but I can not find one that hires access caravans - that is a van modified for someone in a wheel-chair.
By the way we are in central Victoria

Thanks for the search tips but if you look closely they are either for the sale of disabled access vans or they are overseas sites.
I'll keep enquiring but if anyone hears anything please let me know

Peter, if you haven't already found them, perhaps give Accessavan a call.
They build the sort of van you're looking for.
There is no mention I can find on their web page about 'hire' vans but they would probably know of a business doing it if there is one.
Well worth a contact I think.....

A great initiative you're taking on with this and I'm sure we all wish you luck and hope you can get your BIL out in the bush again.

Give Jayco a ring and explain what you wish to do. They possibly have demo or production vans which have a fold down rear door, complete withtoilet + shower and variable bed options. They may have one available for such reasons with a view to appraisal for catering for disabled people. They may value your positive input and practical suggestions when using the van.
Hope all works out for you.

Good point.
A Base Station / Toy Hauler type of van may
well suit.
A bit 'industrial', but if it does the job....................
