Which road is the best side of the Darling, east or west. Smoothest would be best.
Thanks, Geoff

Geoff
I traveled the west Rd last time and it was fine .
That was 2 years ago and from what I have been told the west track is generally the best option .
Cheers

Hi Geoff,
This is not directly relevant and I am unsure if you like caravan parks but if you are passing via
Wilcannia the relatively new caravan park,
Warrawong On The Darling, is worth considering. We have stayed there twice and the facilities are excellent.

x2 for that recommendation. It's a great place to stay. And I reckon the western side of the Darling is the best option, with some good
free camping and station stays along the way.
Enjoy!!

Travelled west side with caravan about three weeks ago, no real problems, was told it was the best way. I think it may have been a bit rougher approaching
Menindee and there was a spot with some interesting undulations. There's a bit of bull dust as
well, nothing serious. For cheapest fuel in
Wilcannia use Lowes just off
Reid st(
Menindee road). Warawong on the Darling was a good spot to stay. We enjoyed the drive, just take it easy and maybe drop some air out of tyres.
Menindee to
Pooncarie was OK as
well.

The West road is the main road .
I went the East several years ago and the constant slowing for elevated grids drove me balmy. It was also very rough being an unmetalled track through the flood plain.
There also was/is no disposal bin on the East road in as
Menindee is a quarantine area. We left our fruit in the pub bin .
BTW we stayed at the Ski club at Kopi Hollow which was excellent once you get past all the old onsite vans.

Thanks to all, we went down the east side as suggested, nice trip but a bit rough the last bit as mentioned. Only traffic we saw was a Commodore and a Falcon, can't be too bad.
Once again thanks for the help.
Geoff
